The community Based Tourism – Institute, CBT-I, is an NGO that was established in 2006. CBT-I was founded based upon the conviction that tourism can be a tool for community development. However, for rural tourism to be sustainable, community members must participate in and benefit from tourism development. CBT-I provides support and facilitate cooperation among stakeholders from grassroots to international levels, in order to strengthen the capacity of Thai communities to manage tourism sustainable.

To achieve this, CBT-I is working with local communities, Thai government, NGOs, academics and selected tour operators with a commitment to Sustainable, Responsible Tourism. The CBT-I team work across the country, covering diverse cultural and natural environments. CBT-I provide tailored training services to community, government and non-government organizations, CBT facilitators, research teams, tour operators, tour guides and leaders. These trainings cover all areas of community- based tourism development. For more information, visit: http://www.cbt-i.org/2012/index.php?&lang=en
